I think the strangest thing I have seen was a couple years ago. We were driving through farm country in northern CA when I saw a field with cows and one giraff. That just seemed strange to me.

A turtle once, armadillo roadkill (I'm sure a regular occurrence somewhere, but not around me) and once some friends saw a manure truck that got hit and sprayed everything in sight including a car with a mattress on top. I imagine they had to go purchase another mattress... (shudder!)

Ok, I didn't see this, but some random guy told me once in the grocery store that he once left his baby in an infant seat on top of the car and drove away with the baby on top.

Who does that?

Ridiculous.

i kept seeing this very large pieces of equipment on 18-wheeler flat beds, they kind of looked like giant pods of some variety. but i couldn't ever figure out what they were for, i day dreamed of following a truck just to see. this has probably been going on for over a year. sometimes two a week, sometimes none. i drive a 5 lane highway running east and west to work. my husband (somehow) found out what they were and informed me just the other week that they are parts for wind turbines

This isn't exactly weird, but I love it when I see other drivers alone in their cars singing enthusiastically along with the radio. I especially love when they incorporate some mini dance moves.

Once, driving through Wisconsin as the sun was coming up, there was an old station wagon on the freeway... With a baby COW in the back seat! She had her head between the front seats, like she was watching out the windshield, and the driver had his arm over her "shoulders" while they were driving along... I started laughing - and when the driver saw me, he smiled and laughed, too!

Only in Wisconsin...

One time on the highway (a main one) we saw a car carrying a mattress. The scary part was that it wasn't tied on properly, and kept flapping up. It was held on with one rope (or bungee cord) around the middle, and the car was a small one. It looked ready for take-off!

Oh, and we saw a barbeque on the back of someone's truck fall on the highway. We were VERY glad we were not behind that guy!

We also managed to scoop up some lifejackets that flew out the back of someones truck, but we couldn't catch up to them to give them back.

And a last one ... downtown Toronto, I've seen a small car with dolls heads all stuck to it. And the person inside was dressed like a clown. It looked VERY weird.
