Eating Less Salads and More Fried Food

by the Provident Woman | November 25th, 2009

You know since I’ve had kids I feel like I eat less.

I always having someone begging for some of my food.

Or I’m dealing with them and by the time I get to eat my food it is cold and gross. Like this morning for instance. We had biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I was so busy getting everyone else fed and off to school that an hour later when I sat down to eat my plate of food it was cold and disgusting. And no, I couldn’t just microwave it, then my biscuits would have a different texture.

So I seem to eat less of what’s on my plate for those two main reasons.

So why have I gained so much weight since having kids?

Maybe it’s because I realize my eating time is limited and scarf food down really fast.

Or maybe it’s because I give into my cravings and eat less salads and more fried food. Oh man, I’m hungry just thinking about it.

I made fried pheasant the other day and so wish I had more. And maybe some onion rings.

This mind set is not helping my goal to loose some weight. Maybe mentally chanting “Salad is good. Salad is yummy,” will get me believing it. I used to love salad, but I’m telling you these kids have changed my taste buds.

Don’t freak out. I don’t eat fried food all of the time. Just when I really, really want it. Right now for instance.

I can remember when my daughters were young I ate many cold meals. As far as the sharing of food…….they are 18 and 15 and still asking for bites of mine!! I have found a successful way for me to lose a few pounds has alwasy been moderation in everything I eat, fried or not, and plenty of exercise. I will be following that practice soon after the holidays.

I can totally relate! I have found that my 1-year-old eats better if he eats off of my plate instead of his own. If nothing else, it has helped me cut back on portion sizes for myself. :-P

My mom’s trick was to finish off what was left on our plates and not eat her own meal; she stayed slender all her life. Me? Not so much (ho). I don’t know what happened – quitting smoking, ignoring calories, not exercising or drinking enough water. Any combo of those. “Salad is good. Salad is yummy. Salad is my friend. I will eat salad and not chocolate.” Nope, not working. *Sigh*

“Fried Pheasant?” You’re like, my hubby’s dream woman. The closest I’ll get the pheasant is reading about it. =)
P.S. Don’t worry about your love for fried food. I’m pretty sure that one of these days the Food Pyramid people will determine that it’s actualy good for us. I’m holding out for that moment. =)
