December 7 – A Day To Remember

by the Provident Woman | December 7th, 2009

Today is an important day in history.

It is the anniversary of the New York Philharmonic’s first concert. (Betcha didn’t know that.)

First gyro-stabilized vessel to cross the Atlantic arrives in New York. (What’s a gyro-stabilized vessel? It sounds like food.)

Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. (No comment, we all know what that one meant and still means to many.)

My mother’s birthday! (Hot dog, this is truly an event to celebrate. If this never happened I wouldn’t be here in this very spot right now writing this for you to read.)

Helen O’Connell joins the Today Show panel. (Sorry, I don’t even know who that is. And please don’t tell me I’m just too young. I know I am.)

Apollo 17 launched. (Cool! It was the last Apollo moon mission, too. Did you know that? And they took that picture. I didn’t.)

I was supposed to be born on this day. (It would have made this day that much more memorable for everyone in this world but apparently infant me didn’t know how special this day would be and had to come 3 months early.)

Galileo arrived on Jupiter on this day years ago.

But out of all of that history the part I’m celebrating today is my mother. I have mentioned her over and over again and will never stop. She is a great mom and grandmother. She has helped us through so much. She has helped so many through so much. She is just all around a special lady.

She is so patient and understanding. Giving and loving. She even watches my daycare when I have to take my kids to the doctor for a shot. Not only that but she’ll watch them so I can take a trip to the grocery store in peace. She babysits my kids on the spur of the moment. She feeds our family all of the time. They say it’s because they want us to come over so they can see the kids, but I think it’s because my mom is still so used to cooking for many that she over cooks and it’s way to much for just her and my dad. But, keep it up mom. We love it.

We love your food, but we love you more. We hope you have a wonderful birthday! I’ll call you sometime this morning like I do EVERY day. (Am I the only person that still calls there mother everyday and several times a day if I have questions while cooking something new?)

Hope your mother has a wonderful birthday. I am so very fortunate to be able to talk to or visit my mother each day. We generally touch base on the telephone at least once a day…..sometimes more.

What a great tribute to you mom! Mine moved to heaven in March and I am forever grateful I had the past 4 years with her (after dad moved first). Was able to send many roses and other flowers of assorted variet, enjoy her, spoil her, and love her. This was a neat reminder of that.

This is the Provident Woman’s sister. I can attest to the fact that we have an extraordinary mother. Supportive, caring, kind, and, I can honestly say, based on watching my sister, has passed those traits on. Happy birthday, mom!

This is Provident Mom – what a nice daughter I have. I really just do so many nice things for my kids so that when I mess up (as most moms do every so often – you know, offer advice or opinion when not solicited) they’ll overlook it. Thanks for the lovely birthday present. Mom

LOL…that is so funny that your mom posted in as you. That’s cute.

I love this post. Very sweet. I love that you have such a great relationship with your mom.

    Hugs,
    Hannah
