My life is full of children, family, home, land, bees, work, love, laughter and everyday life.
My Monthly Calendar. Because my life is too crazy to keep track of without it.
My husbands iphone. It's applications are really useful and easy to get too!
Our Quicken finance software. Because it's nice to remember that you actually had money before paying the bills.
Coupon ads. They are the best way to save at the grocery store and finding them is like a scavenger hunt.
DVR. Because even a homemaker needs a break when the kids are asleep.
I vividly remember the first day I saw one of those modular homes on the road….that really freaked me out.
There is an ostrich farm near my parents house (in NY – who knew?) and when they move them from one location in the summer to a place with more indoor space in the winter they have to cross the road – The Ostrich Cross the Road jokes just don’t get old for me.
Once saw a cow in the bed of a pick up truck peeing on the cab…
Weird and totally frightening thing……when my daughters were very young we took a road trip together. They were asleep in the back of my van as we were traveling very early one morning. On an isolated section of the highway, I noticed a car approaching me on my left. The weird thing……it was going to go right past my vehcle very soon ~ the frightening thing, I was on a four lane highway and they should have been on the other side of a very large and grassy median. I flashed my lights at them and as the vehicle passed, I saw an elderly woman driving. As she drove by, she didn’t even acknowledge me, or have any obvious concern that anything was wrong. This was a time before cell phones were the norm so all I could do on that day was hope she made it to her destination safely….and without greeting any other vehicles head on.
It wasn’t someone driving, but the weirdest thing I ever saw while driving was someone pulled over in the middle of a very busy California highway, sitting on the roof of his car playing the guitar. I thought it was an odd place to stop and play, but who am I to judge?
One time on the highway (a main one) we saw a car carrying a mattress. The scary part was that it wasn’t tied on properly, and kept flapping up. It was held on with one rope (or bungee cord) around the middle, and the car was a small one. It looked ready for take-off!
Oh, and we saw a barbeque on the back of someone’s truck fall on the highway. We were VERY glad we were not behind that guy!
We also managed to scoop up some lifejackets that flew out the back of someones truck, but we couldn’t catch up to them to give them back.
And a last one … downtown Toronto, I’ve seen a small car with dolls heads all stuck to it. And the person inside was dressed like a clown. It looked VERY weird.
I have seen people shaving, and even applying mascara while driving!
Once, driving through Wisconsin as the sun was coming up, there was an old station wagon on the freeway… With a baby COW in the back seat! She had her head between the front seats, like she was watching out the windshield, and the driver had his arm over her “shoulders” while they were driving along… I started laughing – and when the driver saw me, he smiled and laughed, too!
Only in Wisconsin…
LMAO.. I have nothing that will top these last comments!!
I remember some story though about a lady going to jail because she out her daughter in a box on the top of the car!!!! Ok. well maybe that does beat out all the others!!! SAD!
This isn’t exactly weird, but I love it when I see other drivers alone in their cars singing enthusiastically along with the radio. I especially love when they incorporate some mini dance moves.
i kept seeing this very large pieces of equipment on 18-wheeler flat beds, they kind of looked like giant pods of some variety. but i couldn’t ever figure out what they were for, i day dreamed of following a truck just to see. this has probably been going on for over a year. sometimes two a week, sometimes none. i drive a 5 lane highway running east and west to work. my husband (somehow) found out what they were and informed me just the other week that they are parts for wind turbines
Ok, I didn’t see this, but some random guy told me once in the grocery store that he once left his baby in an infant seat on top of the car and drove away with the baby on top.
Who does that?
Ridiculous.
Jumping tarantulas. Freaked the heck out of me and I won’t drive over them “just in case” – I mean – they *might* find a way up into the car – they’re the size of a man’s fist!!
A turtle once, armadillo roadkill (I’m sure a regular occurrence somewhere, but not around me) and once some friends saw a manure truck that got hit and sprayed everything in sight including a car with a mattress on top. I imagine they had to go purchase another mattress… (shudder!)
I think the strangest thing I have seen was a couple years ago. We were driving through farm country in northern CA when I saw a field with cows and one giraff. That just seemed strange to me.
