Just Another Family Gathering

by the Provident Woman | December 29th, 2009

The day after Christmas we came back to “Manhappiness” and had a Christmas with my dad and two of his brothers families.

This is what the men did while us women folk cooked and slaved away.

I mean it, that’s all they did and this time they didn’t even help by carving the meat.

That part was done by my Auntie Em. Just kidding, we don’t call her that, she’s Aunt Emily. But, I’m from Kansas so I couldn’t resist just this once.

Aunt Emily, I promise I’ll never call you that again.

Look at her attack that ham.

Men, don’t worry she’s got it covered. No man work for any of you today.

And look! Wolverine paid us a visit.

Steve you desperately need a hair cut and do something with that there facial hair.

Oh, have you met my brother yet? Well, that’s him. The one who needs the hair cut. That’s my big bro. That’s the one my kids adore and ask about all the time. That’s the one who needs to move closer so my kids can see him more. Yep, that’s my brother.

Well, isn’t that just like a man? Yep, I think that was a universal practice because that’s EXACTLY what the men were doing here, as well. Well, no football because there were no games on at that specific time, but they found something to replace it. I complain, but in truth, us women had a pretty good time in the kitchen. Of course there was a little bit of wine involved… =)

I’m so blessed–my husband LOVES to be in the kitchen. We do most of the cooking together, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Although, I wouldn’t complain if we had a slightly larger kitchen…

WELL, what a nice surprise to see my toothy grin in your blog!! I feel almost famous now! It was a great day even if the men didn’t help, just being with family is great any time. By the way, this the first time I’ve ever commented on anything online. You are privileged.

no way husband would get away without helping in the kitchen, regardless of who was here. christmas dinner wouldn’t have been as good without his l33t gravy skillz and his muscles smushing up those taters. we’ve always shared kitchen duties when we cook large meals. thankfully he doesn’t like football (or any of the other typically “male” sports).

I know my sister is doing some thing the same. I wish luck to you.
